Outrageous
by Lakeside

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a designer or because I’m a shallow person, but album covers are often the only reason I choose the music I do. I realized just about any band I like has album covers I like atleast when I first tried them. Modern covers are rarely any good so when it is good I figure I should give it a try. Album covers are a dying format anyway. We’re not getting another Unknown Pleasures anytime soon.

Anyway, I was going through my parents’ old albums and ran across the best album cover ever. Then, I opened it and the spread inside was 10x better. I had to snap a shot and take a listen. Now I’ve had a song on repeat for like an hour.

Really shitty quality posters for a fun project I did about rappers’ ad libs. I made posters for Diddy, Jeezy, Clipse and Jada. There’s digital versions of a few of the posters here for a clearer look.

I might try and get some real prints done if anyone else is interested in having any.

White sneakers to counter Devlin’s black magic. Might as well re-title this blog MY STUFF PHOTOGRAPHED ON MY WOOD FLOOR. And there’s more coming, baby.

Op Art
by Cyril Barret

Op art is another obsession of mine. I found this book at Powell’s while visiting these fuckers in Portland. Amazon says the book was printed in 1970 and you can definitely tell. It’s beat to hell, but it’s still too awesome. It delves pretty deep into the history of the movement and the artists that influenced and carried it. The book is almost all black and white with a handful of glossy color pages thrown in. It also explains how alot of the illusions work with the eye. The design of the book is pretty solid as well. I have no idea where you’d find another one. If you do have any interest in the subject I’d seek it out.

Yesterday, I was just trolling the internet looking for images to steal for my visual blog. I ran across a few of Monika Bielskyte’s images on ffffound. Then, I went to her site and after ffffounding about ten images decided I should just make a proper post about her. I realIy like the extremely lowlight she uses in a lot of the shots. I chose a few stand out images. They look best in the context of the series though. Her blog has also a bunch of nice fashion shots.

Grid Systems in Graphic Design
by Josef Müller-Brockmann

This isn’t a recent purchase, nor an unknown gem. This is easily the best book in my collection though. As anyone who’s ever talked design with me knows I am obsessed with grid systems and anything Josef Müller-Brockmann. This book explains alot of the elements of the grid and gives solutions for some layouts. It’s also just sexy as shit inside and out. The website based on this book, The Grid System, is also a great resource for designers.

I love collecting books. I’d love to design a full book someday as well. So, I’ll be posting what I have in my collection and also anything I come across later.

Also, hit the ‘G’ key right now and on Secret Indictments to check my grid out. ‘G’+'H’ will make the grid stick. Thanks to #grid for this feature.

I copped this Temple of Jawnz A2 bomber late last year and I’ve worn it almost daily since. The combination of looking like Maverick and the buttery softness of the lambskin is clincally proven to wet thighs up. Drew and his team are great guys and the transparency of the brand and their methods really keeps me watching. They’ve since produced equally dope oxfords, peacoats and duffles. I’m hoping to get a hold of one of the daypacks while they’re doing them.

Please excuse the overexposure on the shots, I’ll step my photo game up.
